Used props for shooting

Sprit bottle, Jianjiao (scream) sports drink bottle, - symbolic for consumerism and addiction on sweats. 

High saturated microphone covers and balloons to indicate hedonism.

Colour strips from watermelon to suggest the natural formation of life.

Making process:

After assembling the props on a white board, I photographed them and used photoshop for post production. Raising the overall brightness, cleaning the background and make increase the depth of field. I also tried on adjusting the hue, making them even more bizarre and motley.

Testing fonts and tones：

I used san serif font to match the post modern artwork. However, I changed it into a serif font to bring the nostalgic and classical feeling carried out by the old song Lemon Tree.

Initial Outcome

I burned holes out of the sprit bottle and input balloons. I see this as a metaphor of breathing, and the inflating desire of coming out. Just like how the song expresses the struggle of getting trapped inside a boring routine and seeking for an exit.

I cut holes out of the 'Scream' bottle and stuck in microphone covers. I see this as a metaphor of trying to shout out, but the covers (that supposed are sending out the sound) is blocking the bottle to express itself, like tumour caused by diseases.

Final product:

For the front cover, I used a pink colour scheme to display a warm tone with transparent text, which build up a soft visual effect. For the back cover, I used a strong contrast colour scheme with neon red and green, the complementary colours give the digipak a strong ending. The composition is separated into three parts to amplify the theme of isolation, unlike the front cover with unclear boundaries that indicate confusion. For the side of the digipak, I choose the font 'Herculanum' to produce a comical feeling.

Finally, a label of 'warning' is given as there is appearance of blood in the MV. After finishing filming the MV, I added a photo of Luzhou holding a model of Earth and a bible, symbolizing the wholeness, peace, and unity of this world, which contrast to the unserious behaviour of the protagonist. Displaying the complexity of human nature, including violence, lust, and love. In addition, I took the four stars from the Chinese flag and inserted them beside the photo that has 'Christianity' indication. Showing the clashes between different ideologies and political issues, all affecting the lives of the young generation. Just like the nature of 'yellow cordon', a rebellious person fighting against oppression, he and his song 'The Lemonist' symbolized the current living condition full of confusion, wishes that cannot be fulfilled, and eyes blinded by the 'lemon tree'.
